Alberto Ricca

 

Alberto Ricca is a laptop composer, teacher, and independent researcher focused on extreme and forgotten sound objects. In 2018, he authored, as Bienoise, Most Beautiful Design, a mini-album of low-quality mp3 compositions, released on floppy disk by the cult label Mille Plateaux. With them, he also released the album THIS MEANING TODAY in June 2022. In 2014, he was the Italian participant to Tokyo for the Red Bull Music Academy. His music has also been released by C2C Festival, Artetetra, White Forest, Enklav and many other labels.

Since 2017, Alberto has scored contemporary dance pieces with Annamaria Ajmone (To be Banned from Rome), the movement research collective Parini Secondo (SPEEED, BE ME, HIT), and Jacopo Jenna (DANSE MACABRE!, Here and Now, Manifestus).

Since 2019, Radio Raheem Milan has been hosting NON MUSIC, his monthly selection of unintentional compositions. He founded, with Davide Merlino, the Verbania-based radical improvisation label Floating Forest. He teaches Synthesis and Performing Techniques at IED Milan. He studied Electronic Music and Sound Technology at the Como Conservatory, and Media Languages at Università Cattolica in Milan. His articles, inquiring tools, symbols and value in Art and Culture, are published by NON, NERO and Becoming Press.
