Dr Denise Risch is a marine mammal ecologist based at the Scottish Association for Marine Science. Her research studies underwater sounds and aquatic soundscapes, employing long-term passive acoustic monitoring to understand species presence and movements, and infer possible causes for change. Moreover, her work assesses the impacts of anthropogenic noise on the marine environment, which involves quantifying ambient and device generated underwater noise relevant to and for the assessment of environmental impacts of the marine renewables industry.
