Mark Peter Wright

Dr Mark Peter Wright is a Reader in Critical Sound Practice based at the University of the Arts London. His research combines sound, installation, writing and performance. Underpinning these subjects and forms is an ongoing investigation of environments: sites and sounds, traces and phenomena; how artefacts matter; how media becomes critical; how practice can be infused with play. He is interested in the documentary form and the ways technology, self and space perform agency, power and poetics. Fieldwork, its ethics and aesthetics, is therefore a site of continual exploration. His book Listening After Nature: Field Recording, Ecology, Critical Practice is published by Bloomsbury.
