Rike Scheffler

Rike Scheffler is a Berlin-based artist working in the realms of poetry, performance, music, spatial installation, and intersectional queerfeminist practice. She studied psychology at the Free University of Berlin (Diploma) and creative writing at the German Literature Institute. Her books include der rest ist resonanz (kookbooks, 2014) and Lava. Rituale (kookbooks, 2023). For Scheffler, art is a space for community, possibility, and social transformation. In »Lava. Rituale«, poems from speculative more-than-human future communities resound as echoes we can hear in the present, unfolding new and tender ways of being-within interspecies alliances. Scheffler collaborates on performance series with Ólafur Elíasson’s Institute for Spatial Experiments, performs globally, and has received numerous grants and fellowships. Her work has been presented at venues such as Neue Nationalgalerie and Hamburger Bahnhof Berlin, The Arts House in Singapore, at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen, and at Palais de Tokyo Paris.
