Katrine Frøkjær Baunvig

Katrine Frøkjær Baunvig is Professor at School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University, and Director of the Centre for Grundtvig Studies. Her research focuses on communities and social cohesion, with particular attention to N. F. S. Grundtvig’s view of and influence on the role of communal singing in Denmark. She has extensive experience leading large-scale interdisciplinary projects, including the European research project CRIES, which investigates singing in times of crisis across Scandinavia and the Baltic states. More broadly, her work combines philology, digital humanities, and song studies to explore how singing practices contribute to identity, cultural resilience, and collective memory.
