About Seismograf
Seismograf is an editorially independent web journal focusing on the latest art in the sonic domain and its creators.
About
Seismograf is Denmark’s only journal dedicated to new music, sound art, and the practices that challenge and expand the way we listen. As an editorially independent, bilingual online journal, we publish all our articles in both Danish and English and offer criticism, interviews, essays, podcasts, and audio papers – freely accessible to everyone.
Rooted in Dansk Musik Tidsskrift (1925–2008), we carry a century-long tradition of covering and debating art music and sonic experimentation. Since the merger with DMT and Autograf in 2011, Seismograf has developed into one of the key platforms for the contemporary sound scene in the Nordic region – a space for rigorous expertise, critical dialogue, and in-depth perspectives, analysis, and reflection.
Seismograf Peer is our peer-reviewed platform for research in contemporary music, sound art, and sound studies. Here we publish research articles and audio papers across disciplines – from musicology, sound studies, and cultural studies to artistic and practice-based research.
Since 2021, Seismograf has collaborated with the Berlin-based magazine Positionen and the Polish journal Glissando on the exchange of articles. Together, we reach a broad international audience in multiple languages: Danish, English, German, and Polish.
With an eye on global trends, Danish voices, and the growing field of sound research, we work toward a single ambition: to serve as a vibrant international hub for conversations about art, music, and the future of sound.
No reflection without art – no art without reflection.
