Áine Mangaoang

Áine Mangaoang is Professor at the Department of Musicology, University of Oslo. Her books include Dangerous Mediations: Pop Music in a Philippine Prison Video (2019), winner of the IASPM-US Woody Guthrie Book Prize, Made in Ireland: Studies in Popular Music (2021), and the anthology Sound and Detention: Towards critical listening, sonic citizenship, and social justice (together with Kate Herrity and Lucy Cathcart Frödén, 2026). Other writing on music on the margins appears in Allegro Lab, Arts and Abolition: Another World is Possible, Musicæ Scientiæ, the Journal for the Society for Musicology in Ireland, and Scherzo.
