Three albums with music for string quartet – and the likes – by Jürg Frey, Simon Christensen, and Anders Lauge Meldgaard each approach musical simplicity in their own way. But they aim for entirely different things with it.

On the new album by Frisk Frugt, Den Europæiske Spejlbue, composer Anders Lauge Meldgaard's coloristic thoughts have returned home from under the African sky, and he has turned his nomad imagination toward a more European musical tradition. Bjarke Porsmose spoke to him on a day in October when the birds were still singing outside.
