Jakob Gustav Winckler er ekstern lektor på Musikvidenskab, Københavns Universitet, hvor han underviser i samtidsmusik. Siden 2016 har han fungeret som freelance musikjournalist og primært dækket scener for eksperimenterende musik, lydkunst og musikdrama. Desuden er han fagansvarlig på lex.dk, Danmarks Nationalleksikon.
